VideoNote vs NoteGPT

A NoteGPT alternative for video notes, priced in rupees

Looking for a NoteGPT alternative because the free quota ran out or you would rather pay in rupees? VideoNote does one job: paste a public video link and get a timestamped transcript, study notes, a chapter timeline, flashcards, a quiz and a chat that answers from the video. Below is a fair side by side, including the things NoteGPT does that VideoNote does not.

In short

If you mainly turn YouTube lectures into notes, flashcards and quizzes and want to pay in rupees, VideoNote is a lighter NoteGPT alternative. If you also need PDFs, web pages, mind maps or a Chrome extension, NoteGPT covers more.

VideoNote takes one public video link and returns a timestamped transcript, notes, a chapter timeline, 6 to 10 flashcards, a 5 question quiz and an Ask chat. Free use is 2 videos a day without an account or 5 a day signed in. Pro passes cost ₹79 for 7 days, ₹249 for 30 days or ₹1,999 for a year, prepaid and never renewed automatically.

Be fair about it

Where NoteGPT covers more

If any of these matter to you, NoteGPT is the better fit, and switching would be a step backwards.

  • PDFs and web pages

NoteGPT's listing covers PDF documents and web pages as well as videos. VideoNote only reads video links, so a PDF of lecture slides or a textbook chapter needs another tool.

  • A Chrome extension

NoteGPT sits on the YouTube page itself. With VideoNote you copy the link and paste it into a separate tab. That is one extra step, though it also means it works on a phone browser without installing anything.

  • Mind maps, slides and podcasts

NoteGPT can turn notes into mind maps, slides and podcasts. VideoNote stops at notes, a timeline, flashcards and a quiz.

  • Translation and saved history

NoteGPT translates transcripts into 40+ languages and mentions permanent storage. VideoNote writes notes in the video's own language and keeps your library only in the browser you used, so it does not follow you to another device.

Who switches

Where VideoNote fits better

  • Students paying in rupees

Prices are fixed in rupees and paid once through Razorpay. The price you see is the final price, with no extra charges at checkout.

  • Exam week, not a whole year

The ₹79 weekly pass gives 10 videos, 5 hours of video, 36 minutes of audio transcription and 90 questions for 7 days. When the week ends, nothing renews and nothing is charged again.

  • One paste, everything at once

A single link gives the transcript, notes, chapters, flashcards and quiz together. Flashcards and chat answers carry timestamps, so you can check the exact moment in the lecture before you trust a card.

  • Links beyond YouTube

Short explainers on Instagram reels, TikTok, X or Facebook work too, as long as the video is public. Those sites sometimes block cloud servers, so an occasional public video can still fail.

VideoNote Pro passes and what each includes

Each pass is credited when you buy it and can be used any time until it ends.

VideoNote Pro allowances per pass
PassPriceWhat you can use before it ends
Weekly₹79 for 7 days10 videos, 5 hours of video, 36 minutes of audio transcription, 90 questions
Monthly₹249 for 30 days40 videos, 20 hours of video, 150 minutes of audio transcription, 350 questions
Yearly₹1,999 for 365 days, about ₹167 a month480 videos, 240 hours of video, 30 hours of audio transcription, 4,200 questions
Team₹4,999 for 30 days or ₹49,990 for 365 daysUp to 25 people including you, each with the monthly allowance every 30 days

Every Pro pass also has a daily ceiling of 10 videos and 60 questions. Pro videos can be up to 4 hours, or the video time left on your pass if that is less. Audio transcription minutes are only used for videos from other sites and for YouTube videos whose captions we cannot get, so most captioned YouTube lectures do not touch them. Unused allowance expires with the pass. Full terms are in the Terms and refund policy.

How it works

How to switch from NoteGPT: paste the same link

  1. 01

    Paste a public video link

Copy the YouTube link you were summarizing in NoteGPT, or a public link from Instagram, TikTok, X or Facebook, and paste it into the box at the top of this page. One video at a time: playlists and live streams are refused.

  2. 02

    Compare the output

VideoNote builds its own transcript, notes, chapter timeline, flashcards and quiz for that video, so you can put them next to what NoteGPT gave you.

  3. 03

    Keep what you need

Copy the notes, export them as Markdown or save the transcript as .srt subtitles. Your last 12 videos stay in this browser.

A few tips for the first run. Start with a video under 30 minutes, since that is the free limit. If a YouTube or Instagram video fails, try again later or try another public copy of the same talk, because those sites often block cloud servers. There is nothing to import from NoteGPT: you simply paste the link again and VideoNote builds its own set. Opening the same link later reloads it straight from your browser.

What you get

What one video link gives you in VideoNote

The table above lists the outputs. Each one has its own page if you want the detail: notes and the chapter timeline, the summary, flashcards, the quiz, the transcript and the Ask chat. All of them come from one paste, and your last 12 videos stay in your own browser.

Questions

NoteGPT alternative questions

Is there a free alternative to NoteGPT?

VideoNote has a free tier with daily limits instead of a monthly quota: 2 videos a day without an account, or 5 a day when you sign in free with Google, each up to 30 minutes. Limits reset at midnight India time. Free use can pause on days when the service reaches its processing capacity. For comparison, NoteGPT's Chrome Web Store listing describes 15 free quotas per month.

How much does VideoNote cost compared to NoteGPT?

VideoNote Pro costs ₹79 for 7 days, ₹249 for 30 days or ₹1,999 for 365 days, paid once in rupees through Razorpay, with no auto renewal. Team costs ₹4,999 for 30 days for up to 25 people. NoteGPT lists its plans on its own pricing page at notegpt.io/pricing. Prices change, so check the live page before you pay for either.

What does NoteGPT do that VideoNote does not?

According to its Chrome Web Store listing, NoteGPT also works on PDFs and web pages, runs as a Chrome extension on the YouTube page, translates transcripts into 40+ languages, and turns notes into mind maps, slides and podcasts. VideoNote does none of these. It only takes video links.

Can VideoNote summarize PDFs like NoteGPT?

No. VideoNote only accepts a link to a single public video. It has no file upload and no PDF support, so for PDFs you need a different tool.

Does VideoNote have a Chrome extension?

No. VideoNote is a website, so there is nothing to install. Open videonote.in in any browser on a laptop or phone, paste the video link and press Make notes.

Is VideoNote a subscription?

No. Every Pro pass is prepaid for a fixed 7, 30 or 365 days and never renews on its own. Buying again while a pass is active adds the new allowance and extends the end date. You get a full refund within 7 days of purchase if you have used no more than 10% of each part of that purchase's allowance.
