Prices are final and prepaid, paid through Razorpay, and passes never auto renew. Pro allows videos up to 4 hours. A full refund within 7 days of purchase if no more than 10% of each part of that purchase's allowance has been used. See the refund policy.

No browser extension, no mobile app, no PDF export and no file upload.

How it works

How VideoNote works under the hood

  1. 01

    Paste a public video link

Paste the link into the box on the home page and press Make notes. VideoNote checks that it is a single public video, not a playlist or a live stream.

  2. 02

    Get a timestamped transcript

YouTube captions when we can get them, otherwise the audio is transcribed by Whisper large v3 turbo and deleted. If YouTube blocks the audio download, Google Gemini may transcribe the public YouTube link instead.

  3. 03

    Study and ask

Read the notes and chapter timeline, drill the flashcards and quiz, and ask follow up questions that cite the exact moment.

In plain words: the transcript is the ground truth. On YouTube, VideoNote first tries the video's own captions, uploaded or automatic. For every other site, and for YouTube videos without captions, it downloads only the audio, turns speech into text with the Whisper large v3 turbo model, and then deletes the audio.

An AI language model then reads the transcript and writes the notes, the chapter timeline, the flashcards and the quiz. The Ask chat answers from the same transcript in under 150 words and points to moments as timestamps. When the video does not cover your question, the answer says so first, then gives a short general answer marked "Outside the video". AI output can contain mistakes, so check anything important against the video itself. The timestamps make that quick.

What you get

What VideoNote makes from one link

  • Study notes

A title, a TL;DR, a one paragraph summary, key points and the main concepts with definitions, written in the video's language.

  • Chapter timeline

Usually 3 to 12 chapters, and more on long lectures, each with a timestamp and a one or two sentence summary. On YouTube, a click jumps the player to that moment.

  • Timestamped transcript

Search it, copy it, or download it as an .srt subtitle file.

  • Flashcards and quiz

6 to 10 flashcards tied to timestamps, plus a 5 question multiple choice quiz with a short explanation for each answer.

  • Ask the video

Answers stay short and cite moments as timestamps. If the video does not cover your question, the answer says so.

  • Exports

Copy the notes or export them as Markdown. Your last 12 videos stay in your own browser.
